Mrs. Lois Ray (Hill) Jones, age 93 of Goldston, NC, transitioned to eternal rest on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at her residence.

Lois Ray Hill Jones

Lois Ray Hill Jones was born to the late Willie Hill and Creola Dark Hill on October 19, 1930. She was called home by our Lord on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

She was educated in the Chatham County, NC school system and graduated from the Goldston Colored School.

After graduating high school, Lois Ray moved to Washington, DC and worked for a number of years before returning to Goldston and marrying the love of her life, Johnnie V. Jones. To this union, the Lord blessed them with six children.

She joined her husband’s church, Roberts Chapel Missionary Baptist where she was a faithful supporter and a member of the Oppie Jones Sunday School Class.

Later in life, Lois attended Central Carolina Community College for Certified Nursing Assistant training. She worked various jobs over the years and retired from Coty Cosmetic Company in Sanford, NC after several years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie; oldest child, Sharon; and great-grandson, Romello.

She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted children Johnnie V. Jones, Jr. of Goldston, NC; Mona Lisa Matthews (Charles) of Carthage, NC; Marsha Thomas (Ralph) of Goldston, NC; Kent Jones (Lynnette) of Goldston, NC; and Trent Jones (Karen) of Siler City, NC; one sister, Hattie Williams of Bronx, New York; one brother, Joseph Hill of Siler City, NC; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
