Lillie Davis Obituary

Lillie Davis, age 87 of 200 Dodge Lane, Cameron, NC passed on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford, NC.

Lillie Davis was born August 31, 1932 to the late Mose and Rose Davis in Cameron, NC. She was raised and lived all her life in her hometown of Cameron, NC. Lillie was the last living survivor of her nine siblings. All of them preceded her in death. She entered sweet eternal rest on March 10, 2020.

Lillie attended school in Cameron. The school of “Old Greenwood School” was used with only one room for teaching. Afterwards, she found work at various jobs, including but not limited to employment at the Old Lee County Hospital and Cameron Elementary. She also provided daycare for preschoolers.

Lillie, commonly called “Lilah” by everyone who knew her, joined First Baptist Church at a very young tender age under the watchful eye of Rev. Lucas. Lillie attended and served her church as long as her health allowed. She was a choir member who enjoyed lifting her voice in songs for the Lord. During her final days on this side, she often had her son, Jerry Mack to play her favorite song… “Gospel Train.” Lillie took her final seat on the train on March 10, 2020. She enjoyed gardening, planting flowers and watching them bloom. Her favorite T.V. series was Law and Order. She prepared herself to get ready each evening. She knew the time and channel. Everyone that knew Lillie, knew that she “loved” pets…all pets. Her “joy” was taking extra care and feeding them, (dogs and cats). They will surely miss her. Her legacy of strength and love will forever be remembered in the hearts of her loved ones. She was a loving mother who dearly loved her children. She was a strong willed individual who always spoke “her mind.”

We will miss hearing her famous quote when her son would call each evening and inquire about her health. Her reply: “There you go and and what do you want”.

Lillie leaves wonderful, loving memories of her love: her loving daughter, Lillie Mae Matthews (Cliff); her two devoted sons, Jerry Mack Davis (Paulette) of Sanford, NC; Roger Lee Davis of Monroe, NC; grandchildren, Charity, Tisha, Chonda, Bridget of Sanford, NC, Tabitha of Lillington, Edward of Syracuse, NY; great grandchildren, Mya, and Tony of Sanford, NC, Chris, and James of Lillington, NC, Jessica of Greensboro; great great grandchildren, Jamar, Jessiah, Jakierr and Christian. She also leaves a  host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
