Mr. Lewis Headen, age 70, of Sanford, NC, transitioned to eternal rest on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC.
Mr. Headen was born to the late Clyde William Headen and Jewel Beamon Headen on Dec 12, 1955, in Chatham County, North Carolina.
He was educated in the Chatham County, NC school system. Lewis was affectionately known by many nicknames such as “Tonk” and “Big Lewis”. He grew up attending Union Grove A.M.E Zion Church and remained a faithful member during his lifetime. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed going to Smitty & Leo's Barber and Beauty Center where he spent countless days with his friends. Lewis learned good work ethics by working alongside his father in the logging business. Lewis also worked at GKN, Pomona Pipe and other factories before he started his own business. He especially enjoyed his entrepreneurial ventures in trucking and pressure washing. He was very passionate about traveling and he ventured across the entire continental United States and abroad.
He was united in matrimony with Deborah Headen, and they enjoyed countless memories together until she exchanged life for eternity in March 2014.
Mr. Headen was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Headen; his parents, Clyde Headen and Jewel Headen and one sister, Callie Cuthbertson; and other relatives.
Lewis Headen’s memories will be cherished by his son, Rev. Dr. Jermaine Rogers; one daughter, Melissa Albritton; one grandson Darius Albritton; two sisters, Cora Brower and Jacqueline Alston (Earl); three aunts, Hazel Peoples, Irene Davis, and Doretha Alston; one godson, Matthew McKinney; in-laws, Cleveland Cuthbertson, Jackie Walden, Helen Coleman, Pamela McSwain, Donnie McSwain (Janet), Velma Floryanzia, Yvonne Floryanzia, Marie Augustine, Karen, Maldonado, Denise Penna, Bert Floryanzia, Tyrone Floryanzia (Pamela); a special friend and companion, Denise Heck; and a host of relatives, and friends.
