Obituary

On Sunday morning, May 1, 2022, God peacefully called our beloved Leslie Henry Swann, Jr. to eternal rest.

Leslie Henry Swann, Jr. was born July 1, 1943, in Harnett County to the late Henry Swann and Mamie Gilmore Swann. From this union, there were five sons, Frank, Curtis, Prince, Mack, and Leslie. All four brothers preceded him in death.

He attended school in Harnett County, graduated from Johnsonville High School in Cameron, NC, and then enlisted into the United States Army. He continued his education at Central Carolina Technical College in Sanford, NC, and earned an Associate's degree in Accounting.

His employment includes Purchasing Agent/Buyer at St. Charles -Whirlpool Kitchens, Inc., Gaylord Brothers - Shipping Supervisor, Business Owner - office cleaning janitorial service, and ABC Store stock clerk in Sanford, NC. He worked for several years in the accounting, purchasing agent, and buyer industries. His favorite past times were interior home decorating, landscaping and gardening. His favorite sport was basketball.

He was a member of Love Grove A.M.E Zion Church in Swann Station, NC.  During his early childhood and most of his adult years, Leslie remained a faithful member and served on the Trustee Board, Pastor's Aide Committee, Male Chorus, and founding member of the Heavenly Voices Gospel Choir. Leslie later attended Zion Hill United Church of Christ and St. Mark Holiness Church in Sanford, NC.

Leslie Swann married the late Gloria Williams Swann on Dec. 23, 1968. From this union, four children were born.

He leaves behind four lovely children to cherish his memories:  Darlena L. Swann of Durham, NC, Leslie Maurice Swann of Ashburn, VA,  Eric J. Swann, Sr. of Austin, TX and Michael Brent Swann, Sr. of Atlanta, GA; Sisters-in Law: Gwendolyn  Swann of Sanford, NC, Carolyn Swann of LaGrange, NC, Jacqueline Williams of Charlotte, NC, and  Karen Williams of Goldsboro, NC;  Brothers-in-law:  Harold  Williams, Jr. (Jewell) of Pearland, TX, and Theron Williams of Pinehurst, NC. Eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Leslie was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and a loyal friend to many.

"And we, who with  unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."
