Leon Wayne Patterson, Jr.

Mr. Leon Wayne Patterson, Jr. age 45 of Sanford, NC transitioned into eternal rest, Friday, April 2, 2021, at his residence.

It is with great sadness that the family of Leon Wayne Patterson Jr. announces his passing as a result of his battle with addiction and depression. Leon was a resident to Lee County most of his life. He was an exceptional painter and painted many homes and commercial spaces. Leon had an old soul. He was laid back and easy to get along with. He loved his family even if the words didn’t come easily. Leon was witty and had a great sense of humor. He spent hours walking to combat his depression, breathing in the air, and reflecting. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his parents, Martha Patterson of Sanford and Leon Patterson Sr. of Moore County, his son Aaron Patterson and wife Christina and their son Oliver of Sanford, his brother Richard Patterson of Sanford, and sister Sara Thomas of Cary. He leaves behind numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 5pm on Saturday, April 10th, at The Upper Room Church, 115 N. 7th Street, Sanford, with Reverend Kenneth Patterson officiating. 5pm will be greeting of family and friends with the service to follow at 5:30. Special thanks to Knotts Funeral Home of Sanford for handling the arrangements.
