Ms. Leomie (Lee) Alston, age 104 of Pittsboro, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at her residence.

Leomie Lee Alston was born the third of six children to Haywood and Lealer Lee on May 17, 1919, in Chatham County, North Carolina.  She was called home to her final resting place on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.

Leomie was a soft-spoken person with a giving heart.  She met and accepted the Lord during her youth.  Leomie was a faithful member of Alston Chapel United Holy Church in Pittsboro, N.C. where she served in the choir and other auxiliary organizations. On May 11, 2019, she was given the distinct honor of being named the “Mother of the Church.”

In her early years, she was educated at Saint Matthews School.  She later worked in food services at Horton High School and retired from the Chatham County School System. She loved singing gospel music and listening to Mahalia Jackson, one of her favorite gospel artists.  She also enjoyed planting flowers and won several Blue-Ribbon awards for her floral arrangements and baked goods at the Chatham County Fair.

She married Pearlie Alston Sr. who preceded her in death.  Through their union five children were born:  Ella Mae, Pearlie Jr., Gene, Clara, and Ernest.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Pondora (John) Reeves and Lubie (Joe) Reaves; brothers, Hazel (Jettie) Lee, Benjamin Franklin (Viola) Lee, Colon (Mary) Lee; daughters, Clara D. Alston and Ella (Jasper) Allen and daughter-in-law Clementine Alston.
