Lawrence Edward Smith

Mr. Lawrence Edward Smith, age 79, of Sanford, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Cary Health and Rehabilitation Center.  

Lawrence was born November 22, 1943, to the late Geneva Smith and Lonnie Baldwin of Chatham County.

Lawrence was also known as “Smutt” or ‘Son” by his close family and friends.  He was quiet by nature but once you got to know him, he was full of words of wisdom.  He loved to sit on his front porch doing word puzzles and talking to his friends.

He was employed with Moncure Plywood Plant for over 30 + years until he retired.

He rededicated his life to Christ and rejoined Liberty Chapel Church (he adored his Pastor) where he was a dedicated member of the kitchen committee and enjoyed going to bible study.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Annie Smith; two sisters, Elaine Ali and Betty Jean Smith; and three brothers, Authur Smith, Benjamin Smith, and Frank Goldston.

Lawrence leaves to cherish his memories his caring daughter, Debora Murray (Anthony); two grandchildren, Breanna McLean and Sequia Ware; three great-grandchildren, Jaden and Jhimere McDougald, and Dallas Steadman; and a host of other nephews and nieces of whom will miss him dearly.

The family will be receiving friends at the residence of his daughter at 709 Yorkshire Dr., Cameron, NC, 28326.
