Obituary
It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lavinia Page Foushee, who left us peacefully on December 22, 2025. Born July 20, 1960, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Page lived a life marked by compassion, curiosity, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
A lifelong resident of Chapel Hill, Page attended Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. She embraced life fully, and her radiant smile was a gift she shared generously with everyone she met.
Page’s compassionate spirit touched countless hearts. She was devoted to helping others and lived a life of service. While she worked in various roles throughout her career, her greatest joy came from working in childcare. She loved nurturing young minds, educating, and interacting with children. Her love extended beyond the classroom, as she cared for many children within her community.
Page was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sara Mae Foushee of Chapel Hill and Wallace (Edith) Oldham III of Summerville, SC; her beloved son, Antwan Foushee of Chapel Hill; and sister Valerie Oldham of South Carolina.
She leaves behind cherished memories with her children: Shairee Taylor (Richard) of Rocky Mount, NC; Latee Alston of Pittsboro, NC; Julandus (Swan) Foushee of Durham, NC; Princess Alston of Chapel Hill, NC; and Desmond Alston of Durham, NC. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Kyrie Foushee, Jason Byrd, Jari Byrd (all of Chapel Hill, NC), and Mikelle Alston of Pittsboro, NC; sisters Peggy (PJ) Fearrington of Columbia, SC, Monica Alston of Chapel Hill, and Denise Foushee of New York; brothers Benny Foushee of Durham, NC, Kip Foushee of Burlington, NC, Matthew Oldham of Vermont, and Wallace (Champ) Oldham IV of California.
Page’s legacy lives on through her family, friends, and the many lives she brightened simply by knowing her.
