Larry Earl Horton

Mr. Larry Earl Horton, age 72 of 740 Alston Horton Service Rd., Pittsboro, NC passed on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Larry Earl Horton was born April 24th, 1946 to the late William and Louise Horton in Pittsboro, NC. On Tuesday, October 2nd, 2018 he departed this life and went home to be with the Lord.

Larry was educated in the Chatham County school system. He was a hardworking and enterprising man. He always provided and was employed at Chapel Hill Printing Company, UNC Grounds Department. Later he went to truck driving school and become a driver for many years retiring from Townsend Inc. in 2008. Larry was also an entrepreneur and his business ventures included hauling company and Horton’s Transit.

Larry loved drag racing and camping and was a member of the Operation Ghetto Club- Drag Racing Club for many years and the Chatham County Fair Association.

Larry joined Mitchell Chapel AME Zion Church at a young age giving his life to the Lord and attended until his passing where he enjoyed serving as a greeter.

Larry was united in holy matrimony to Sandra Burnette on November 25th,1967 and they remained happily married 51 years until he was called home. To this union, they had 3 beautiful children, Tysha, Jeffrey and Tamara.

Larry leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Sandra Horton; his daughters, Tysha Horton Cox  -Apex, NC and Tamara Horton- Chapel Hill, NC; his son Jeffrey Alston (Cheryl) Siler City, NC; a sister: Betty Cherry-Pittsboro, NC; grandchildren; Shanice Jordyne; Skye Sanaa;  great grandchildren: Caylin Kenzlei, Cam'ron Dezmin; godson, Carlos Marsh- Greensboro, NC; his adopted sons; Kenneth Roundtree -Pittsboro, NC; Joseph Degraffenreidt III -Burlington, NC.
