Obituary
LaVonne Elizabeth McIver McCutchen was born June 23, 1964, in Washington, DC to Shirley Ann Dunn and the late James Curtis McIver. LaVonne, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on January 22, 2023, at the age of 58.
LaVonne graduated from Lee County Senior High School in 1982. She continued her education at Central Carolina Community College where she obtained a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
LaVonne had an impeccable work ethic and believed there was nothing she could not achieve through hard work. She worked for several years at Convalescent Care and Skill Creations. She entered private in-home care in 1996 to take care of her grandmother and continued in that industry to care for several elderly members of the community.
She had a special passion for caring for children. Throughout the years, many children would flock to her for wisdom and care. LaVonne also loved fashion, DIY projects, drawing, traveling, singing, laughing, listening to music, and had a secret passion for dancing!
LaVonne was a beautiful, sweet, kindhearted, loving, and respectable woman. She had a calm presence, she sought peace, but lived boldly and stood up for what was right. She was dedicated and loyal. She didn’t believe in giving up on commitments even if they became uncomfortable. She loved Jesus and devoted her life to living for Him at an early age. She was down to earth but talked to many about Jesus. LaVonne earnestly believed in the power of prayer. She was a member of Zion Hill for several years where she participated in several auxiliaries including the intercessory prayer team.
She loved her family. She took pride in being a daughter, wife, and mother. Some of her biggest disciples were her children, encouraging them to dream big, and always put God first. After work, she was intentional about being present within her home, working to ensure that the needs of those closest to her were met.
LaVonne was preceded in death by her father James Curtis McIver, grandparents Billy and Hettie Dunn, brothers Andre Dunn, Kevin Russ, Curtis McIver, niece Andrea Jones, and goddaughter Ashleigh Jackson.
