Mr. Kirk Mason Garrett, Jr., age 49, of Sanford, NC, transitioned to eternal rest on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at his residence. 

My dear little Kirk was born August 26, 1976, in Washington, DC to Joy Newby Cartera and the late Kirk Mason Garrett, Sr.

He was a 1994 graduate of Lee Senior High School, Sanford, NC.

He was preceded in death by grandmother, Ethel Newby and uncle, Earl Newby.

He leaves to mourn his memories, his mother Joy who was the love of his life.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his son, Darian Messer of Sanford, NC; two uncles, Robert Newby Sr. (Patricia), and Steve Newby (Vanesa); sisters, Charisse Burch of Raleigh, NC, and Deirdre Palmer Clinton of Maryland; niece, Porsha Newby-Allen of Oklahoma; godchildren CJ, Janae, and Keshawn Jr. and a host of cousins and friends.
