Keith Taylor Obituary

Mr. Keith Jamal Taylor, age 57 of 2076 Morris Ave. Bronx, New York passed on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, NC.

Keith Jamal Taylor, was born on May 22, 1961, to Mrs. Betty Brewington Taylor and the late Mr. James Taylor, Sr., residing in New York City.  He departed this life on June 17, 2018, at Vidant Hospital, Greenville, North Carolina (on Father’s Day).

Keith resided in New York City for most of his adolescent years, attending grade school where he received a full academic award to attend the prestigious all boy’s Dewitt Clinton High School. There, he actively participated in sports, school clubs, Junior ROTC, and the “All Boys Club of America.”  Upon his high school graduation, Keith attended the Embry Riddle Flight and Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Florida, where he enthusiastically pursued a career in flight aeronautics to become an airline pilot. He had the distinct privilege to navigate commercial and non-commercial airplanes. Keith was very astute in his communications with/ and to other people and he often spoke an advanced vocabulary, characterized by a very high aptitude of knowledge. In other words, his knowledgeable words of communication were often centered around a philosopher’s view on specific topics. (With at least 95% accuracy)

Keith was employed at the Bank Of New York, Griestigies Merchandise, and Moen Electronics, Sanford, NC.  He attended the Gethsemane Baptist Church, Bronx, New York and would take his sister and brothers to church service.  Keith was definitely in charge as he assumed the big brother’s role for the younger ones. They all looked up to him AND he always looked out for them and protected them.

Keith mastered riding the unicycle and would show off his talent at family gatherings. He loved riding his unicycle and never had an accident! Also, few people knew that he was his mother’s best shopper, catching all the sales.  Sometimes he shopped without a list from his mother and always returned with the correct food items.

His favorite phrase when he was amazed was “Lord, Lord, Lord.” Keith was patient and always showed a genuine love for people.  He truly loved his family and every time he spoke with his mother on the telephone, he said, “ hey Taylor”, as he referred to her, and at the end of the conversation he affectionately said, “I love you, Taylor.” He always told his mother to tell all his family hello and that he loved them. He never missed one time sending that message to them, including Savasia, his niece (whom he called Ruby).

He leaves to cherish in loving memory his BFF and mother, Betty Taylor; his sister, Senobia (Bronx, NY); two brothers, Brian (Bronx, NY) and James (Amp) Hopewell Junction, NY; two nieces, Savasia and Jade; one nephew, Jahair, and one grand nephew, ElyJah; five uncles, Frank Taylor  and Jonathan Taylor (Claudette) of New Jersey, Watson Taylor of New York City, Henry Brewington, Jr. (Ellen), and Milton Brewington (Bessie) both of Cameron, NC; two aunts, Hazel Brewington-Alston (Washington, DC) and Alice Brewington (Columbia, South Carolina), several special cousins, friends, relatives, and extended family.

Keith, we will miss you.  Most of all, we will miss your loving personality, laughter and your ability to communicate effectively with everyone. “Lord, Lord, Lord”.
