Juanita McKinney Obituary

Ms. Juanita McKinney, age 79, of Pittsboro, NC, transitioned to eternal rest on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at her residence.

The Obituary

"Our Father who art in heaven, we praise your name for the gift of life. Enter into our hearts and give us peace through Jesus Christ our Lord, amen".

Juanita McKinney was the daughter of the late Albert Porter McKinney and Ella Lee Deese McKinney. She was born July 16, 1946, in Pittsboro, NC (Chatham County). She departed this life
Thursday October 30, 2025, at her home.

She grew up in Pittsboro NC and graduated from Horton High School in Pittsboro, NC (Chatham County).

Juanita worked at Chatham Mills Textile for 24 years as a Quill Changer until the Mill closed; she was later employed at UNC Healthcare Hospital in Environmental Services for 9 years, where she retired in 2009.

She loved to sew, cooking, baking, dancing and playing softball. Juanita loved to go to the “disco”, in her younger years when she wanted to have fun for entertainment; everybody would say that Juanita could dance.

Juanita gave her life to Christ and joined Staunton Memorial CME Church at an early age. She serviced on the Usher board faithfully and attended church regularly. She loved her daughter, Beverly and her grandson, Bradley, good preaching, Sunday school, and bible study. Juanita was known as “shouting Jane”, in the church community. Her saying was “this world is not my home; my home is in heaven with Lord.”

She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Porter McKinney; mother, Ella Lee D. McKinney; three sisters, Aggie Mae Burgess, Mary Ella McKinney, and Laura Mae Miller; three brothers, Walter McKinney, Cleotha Porter McKinney, and Larry Albert McKinney.

She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories one daughter, Beverly McKinney of Pittsboro NC; one grandson, Bradley McKinney of Cameron, NC; one great grandson, Adonis Strickland of Hope Mills, NC; two sisters, Pauline Brooks, Linda Joyce McKinney, all of Pittsboro NC; one great aunt, Mary Deese of Lexington NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Juanita McKinney's special friends will always have a place in her heart; she will see you’ll again one day, Denah Alston Taylor, Emma Harris Perry, Patricia Alston McQueen, Doraleen Alston, Diane Alston, Marilyn Watson Moore, Frazier, Claire Bouldin, Wayne McNeill, Barbara Wilson and Family. Jay Brooks special thanks to you, my mother wanted you to know how much she appreciated everything that you did for her and may God continue to bless you.
