Mr. John "Vernell" Richmond, age 70, of Sanford, NC, transitioned to eternal rest on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC.

                                                                                 The Obituary           

John Ralph "Vernell" Richmond, age 70, passed away on December 7, 2025. He was born on August 19, 1955. He was the beloved son of the late George and Bessie Richmond.

John was united in marriage to Pamela Regina Richmond, who survived him.

John was preceded in death by several siblings, including James Louis Mclver, Levi David Malloy, Mallo Junior Malloy, James Frank Malloy, David Lee Malloy, Lee Allen Malloy, George Harold Richmond, Clara Olivia Richmond, Marilyn Lorina Richmond, and Mary Francis Malloy.

He is survived by his loving siblings Willie Mae Harrington (Nathaniel), Barbara Snipes (Haywood), and Anita Snipes, along with a host of nieces and nephews, and a special great-nephew, Elijo Hooker.

John was a devoted father to Travis, Curtis (Jaclyn), Jeremy, and Ebony (Dwight) and a special father figure to Gabriel Sampson. He was a proud and loving grandfather to his grandchildren Kayla, Madison, Trinity, Nyla, and Curtis Jr.

John worked faithfully in the logging with Gilliam Logging industry for over 20 years before continuing his career with Pilgrim's Pride, where he worked for five years until his retirement.

In his spare time, John enjoyed fishing, gardening, yard work, and watching sports. He was a Mentor to his community by bringing family and friends to the Ball field, coaching the Mighty Tigers Baseball Team a pastime he truly enjoyed. He was a loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves, Dallas Cowboys, and UNC Tar Heels, and he cherished the opportunity to attend a Major League Baseball game to see his favorite team play.

John Ralph "Vernell" Richmond will be remembered for his hard work, love for his family, and the joy he found in life's simple pleasures. His legacy lives through the many family members and friends who loved him dearly.
