John Sid Thompson

Mr. John Sid Thompson, age 86, of Sanford, NC, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at his residence.

John was born September 3, 1937, in Sandridge, SC to the late Nick and Celleon Peterson Thompson. He was the widower of Doris Cox Thompson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Furman Thompson, Jessie Thompson, Clifford Thompson, and Eddie Thompson, and three sisters, Jenny Mae Harris, Callie Ruth Louden, and Hattie Robinson.

Sid lived many years in Manhattan, New York until relocating with his wife to Sanford, North Carolina. He was a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Sanford, NC. He loved decorating his yard for Christmas, cutting grass, and conversing with anyone he came across.

He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories: his last surviving sister, Bobbie Holloway of Ninety Six, SC; three special nieces, Cathy Pope, two of whom were reared in the home, Clemmie Simmons and Karen Battle. They cared for him until his passing. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
