Mr. John Henry Gilmore, Sr., age 67 of Sanford, NC transitioned to eternal rest on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at his residence.

The Obituary

Mr. John Henry Gilmore Sr., son of the late Cleo Gilmore Sellars and Louis Smith was born on October 10, 1956, in Sanford, North Carolina. God called him home September 14, 2024, at the age of 67.

John attended Pilgrims Rest Church in Olivia, North Carolina where he sang in the Junior Choir. He participated in many plays and was the lead singer for many songs. He also held a position as an usher on the usher board. John later moved his membership to Gospel Lighthouse where he served under the leadership of Apostle Reginald J. White. He was SGA President at Greenwood High School, and HR Major at CCCC. He loved to sing, impersonate, tell jokes, and being everyone’s loving dad.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his best friend, Sharon Blackwell; two sons, John Gilmore Jr.; Deshawn Townes; one daughter Angela Lowther; one brother, Edward Lee McNeill; two aunts, Geneva Headen and Carolyn Street; one niece, Stephanie Belk; one nephew, Octavius Belk and a host of other relatives and friends.
