Joanna McAuley

Mrs. Joanna McAuley, age 71 of Sanford NC transitioned into eternal rest on Monday, November 15, 2021, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC.

Joanna McAuley was born in Sanford, NC October 4, 1950, to the late Owen Clinton (Baylock) and Lanie B. McAuley (Gram). She passed away peacefully November 15, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Joanna attended school in Harnett County and graduated from Benhaven High School, class of 1969.

In 1991, Joanna met the love of her life Sidney “Al” Akins. On November 4, 1994, they united in holy matrimony. The blessing of their union formed a blended family that gave her a daughter and him two sons which they both loved as their own.

Joanna was kindhearted and very giving. She was willing to help any and everyone in any way she could. Joanna greeted everyone with a smile, and she loved to laugh.

She is preceded in death by four brothers: Clinton, Charles, Wilson, and Levi. One sister, Joyce.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories; her husband Sidney (Al) Akins; two sons Larry McAuley (Helen), Marco McAuley (Tracy). One daughter, Crystal Akins. Three brothers; William McAuley (Evelyn), John McAuley (Edith), and Huey (Fish) McAuley. Three sisters; Shirley McKeithen, Lucille Hamer, and her twin Josephine Allen. Eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
