Jessie Johnson Obituary

Jessie Louis Johnson, age 69 of 2806 Mt. Pisgah Church Rd., Sanford, North Carolina passed on Friday, October 12, 2018 at his residence.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8

A Time To Be Born
Mr. Jessie Louis Johnson, was born November 1, 1948 at the Lee County Hospital in Sanford, NC to the union of Deacon James H. Johnson, and Mother Harriet Chesney-Johnson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. James and Mrs. Harriet Johnson, and eight siblings: Willie, Melvin, Lillie Pearl, Pamela, Paul, Jimmy, Dennis, and Jannie.

Education
Jessie received his education in the Lee County Public School System. He was a graduate of W.B. Wicker High School, Class of 1968. He played football and drove the school bus.

A Time To Serve
Jessie was a faithful member of New Bethel FWB Church for 35 years under the leadership of the late, Elder John H. Blue. He served as a Deacon and Superintendent for Sunday School. He later joined Mt. Pisgah Lee FWB Church, and served as a Trustee. Jessie loved his church and church family dearly. Jessie worked as a Professional Truck driver for Carolina By Products for 24 years. He also worked for Food Lion for 17 years. He received numerous “Outstanding Performance” awards, “Professional Safe Driver” awards, “Faithful and Loyal Full Time Service” awards. He was also a volunteer for North Carolina Department of Correction, Division of Prisons. To some, Jessie was thought to be too stern and at times very stubborn, but Jessie was brutally honest. He believed in telling it like it was. He believed in hard work and success. He was a man that could “put his money where his mouth was!” He truly earned his success, from building the home of his dreams from the ground up, owning nice cars that he’d pay for in full (many that he gave away), his well-dressed appearance (he loved Stacy Adams shoes and had his suits tailor made), to his landscaping business and real estate investments (he was a very successful entrepreneur/businessman and always kept busy).

A Time To Die
Jessie passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family. He transitioned peacefully. Our Heavenly Father opened his arms and welcomed Jessie to live with Him eternally.

Jessie leaves to cherish his precious memories: three daughters, Keashea Jones (Bobby) of Newark, New Jersey, Jessie Mellette and Jessica Wilkerson of Sanford, North Carolina; two sisters Deaconess Helen J. Covington and Annie J. Powell both of Sanford, North Carolina; six brothers, Deacon Frederick D. Johnson, Robert D. Johnson, Thurman Johnson (Minister Annie), Herman Johnson (Minister Ola), Wade L.
