Jerode Lee Smith

Mr. Jerode Lee Smith, age 59, of Moncure, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at his residence. 

Jerode Lee Smith, known as "Big Jerode" and "Baby Dink", was born November 27, 1963, to the late James Lattie Smith and Alder Lee Smith.

He departed his life on November 11, 2023, at the age of 59, at his home.

He was born in Wake County, NC, and grew up in Moncure, NC. He attended Northwood High School, where he played baseball, football, and basketball. In 1981, Jerode led the baseball team in hitting at .372 and made all-conference.

Jerode was a sports fanatic, from volleyball to football. If it was on TV, he was watching it. He was also a diehard Duke Fan. He worked at Boise Cascade until 1986. He loved to cook for his family and bake cakes for their birthdays.

At a young age, he joined Liberty Chapel Church. In his later years, he would attend Word of Life Church and Christ Church of Deliverance until his health declined.

Preceded in death by his siblings, Rosezella Smith, Marion Williams, Alphonza Smith, and Novella Smith; great-nephew, Darrell Crump and great-niece, Darrisha Crump.

To cherish his memories are his loving wife, Shuranda Smith; his "pride and joy", son, Jerod Smith Jr; God-given daughter, Jamaria Faucette; Godsons, Michael Crump and Jaalam Daye; two brothers-in-law, Robert Williams and Milton Brown (Shawanna); one aunt, Nora Smith; nieces and nephews, Sharon (Fred), Vincent (Candia), Carla (Tony), Christopher (Paula), Myranda, Clarissa, Cadaro, Kevin, and Courtland; and a host of family and friends.
