Janice Geraldine Street, age 69 of 18845 Highway 87 West, Cameron, NC transitioned into eternal rest Thursday, November 5, 2020, at her residence.
Janice Geraldine Street, heard God whisper her name early on Thursday morning, November 5, 2020, and took her flight to gain her eternal wings.
Janice was born on July 17, 1951, to the late Rollie Street and Nettie Mae Street in Lee County, North Carolina. She was the youngest daughter of eight siblings and a devoted mother. She was a 1969 graduate of Benhaven High School, the first segregated graduating class of Benhaven. She later moved to Newark, New Jersey, and lived there for eight years.
Janice joined Williams Chapel Presbyterian Church at a young age and served as a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. She later joined Restoration Through Christ Ministries and was an active member in the ministry serving as a public announcer for the church and was acknowledged as a Women with Purpose Trailblazer for Restoration until her health began to decline. She was employed with Moen, Inc. for thirty-five years and retired in 2012.
Janice loved her family and was very supportive of them. She was soft-spoken, kind-hearted, and easy-going. She loved to travel, watch basketball games, shop, and had an eye for fashion. She had a passion for reading and enjoyed listening to old school music and watching her grandchildren dance!
Janice was preceded in death by her sister Kathy Street, brothers, Jasper and Elmer Street, her parents, and her eldest granddaughter Jasmin Street. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her children; Tyrone (Patricia) Street of Cary, NC, Shawn Street, Leslie Street, Kim Street, and Kevin Street of Cameron, NC. Six grandchildren; Brian Street, Tyrone Street, Jr., Jarvis Johnson, Kamiya Johnson, Shawn Street, Jr., and Jordan Street. Her siblings; Thelma Street, Effie Street, and Jeanne (James) McAuley all of Cameron, NC. One brother, Cornelius (Brenda) Street of Clarksville, TN. Two aunts Sallie Ann Hailey and Fannie Marie Headen. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
