Mr. James Edward Weathers, Sr., age 81, of Broadway, NC transitioned to eternal rest on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital.

The Obituary

James Edward Weathers, Sr., the son of the late Curtis Weathers, Sr. and Bertha McLean Weathers, was born November 25,1943 in Harnett County.

James was called home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2025, at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital at the age of 81 years old.

He loved all his family and friends and was willing to do all he could for anyone in his community. James was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Curtis Weathers Jr and Alfonzo Weathers.

James graduated from Shaw Town High School in 1962. On January 31, 1964, just two years after graduating, James enlisted in the United States Navy. James was honorably discharged on January 30, 1970.

During James’ leisure time he expressed his love for his favorite sports team, Carolina Panthers and NC State Wolfpack.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, James Weathers Jr. (Cassandra) of Maryland; daughter, Leslie Weathers Petty of Sanford; four granddaughters, Dorian Davis, Jadelyn Petty all of Sanford, NC, Janice Torres (José) of Louisiana, and Myla Weathers of Maryland; three great grandchildren, Taylor Bowen, Robert Bowen, all of Sanford, NC and Elena Torres of Louisiana; his sisters, Nina McNeill, Rosa Smith (Gary) all of Broadway, NC, Carolyn Nails of Fayetteville, NC, and Alfreda Weathers of Spring Lake, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
