Mr. James Lee Richmond, age 77 of Saginaw, Michigan transitioned to eternal rest Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
The Obituary
Beloved father and grandfather passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at his home. James was born in Sanford, North Carolina to Virgie Hooker and the late Edward Hooker. He was raised in the home of his grandmother, Pearlee Richmond. His grandmother raised her children and grandchildren in such a tight knit family they have always seen each other as brothers and sisters and took care of each other. James, Sylvia, Shelton, Jr., Rebecca, Mary, Bobby and Punkin have had a bond like no other. He married Roberta Brown. She predeceased him on August 18, 2008. James moved to Saginaw Michigan in the 70’s with his mother and father Virgie and Edward Hooker to begin working at the GM foundry. There were many years and countless trips from Saginaw to North Carolina with his last adventure being this past year to lay to rest his brother, Jr. Richmond. James was well known in the bowling and golfing community in Saginaw. During the warmer months he golfed with his buddy Geno and his group. James took up bowling in the 1980’s on Sixth Street in Saginaw with his longtime friend, Mr. Dennis. He was also a member of the Thursday Morning Trio bowling league, with partners Byrd and Tim Lowry, and bowled Monday nights at Crooked Creek Bowl. James also bowled for many years with Exie Roberson. James lived in his neighborhood for over 30 years creating lifelong bonds with the Jackson family, the Payne family and many other neighbors.
Surviving to cherish his memory are two daughters, Kwamise Richmond and Katoya Richmond; his grandchildren, Darnell (Nicole) Phillips, Tristan Richmond, Mychal Sangster, Antwon Richmond, TaTeauna Rogers, TayVell Richmond, Richada (Leon) Brown, Malik Richmond; his great-grandchildren, Janaya, Mychal Jr., Maddux, Prahmise, Pharadise, DaVarion, Aleah, Peryai, Paris, Ariel, Noelle, Paige, Chance, Chosyn, Saint, Sir, Charm; his mother, Virgie Hooker; his brother, brother, Shelton Richmond; fraternal nieces and nephews, Bookie Hooker, Dawn Hooker, Trudonna Murrell, Shardae Richmond, Nicey Richmond, David Richmond; many nephews, nieces and cousins of the McLean- Richmond family; beloved mother-in-law, Annie Brown and the Brown Family; special friends, Lois of Texas and Almeta Mills.
James was preceded in death by his father, Edward Hooker; his son, Kevin Richmond; his two great-grandsons Tavariea Rogers and Chayce Martin; his sister, Sylvia Murrell; a nephew, Reese Richmond.
From the heart of Kwamise, she would like to express her sincere appreciation to her loving God Sister Renae Williams for showing unconditional loyalty, love and support during this difficult time.

Honoring the wishes of the family, cremation has taken place. Family and friends will share memories at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 26, 2025 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty). Friends may gather on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the wishes of the family.
