James McCormick

James McCormick, age 88 of 805 Harkey Rd., Apt. 2B Sanford, NC passed on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at The Laurels of Chatham, Pittsboro, NC.

Mr. James McCormick affectionately known as “Junior” was born on June 17, 1930 to the late Isabelle Denmark in Sanford, North Carolina. On December 29, 2018 he fulfilled his earthly duties only to begin his heavenly dwelling with Almighty God; he departed this life at The Laurels of Chatham, Pittsboro, North Carolina. James gave his life to Christ early in his life. For many years, James held Bible studies and programs in his home and within the community until his health begin to failed him.

At the close of his of sixth grade year, James moved to Baltimore, Maryland to pursue employment opportunities. While in Baltimore he worked in various industries. He was an ice salesman, a delivery driver for a prominent furniture company, and a custodian at John Hopkins Hospital.

He later returned to Sanford, North Carolina to care for his aging mother. He faithfully attended to her needs until she passed away. James was an active member of Little Galilee under the tutelage of Pastor Hancy Barnes. Once, his health began to fail and he was unable to drive he became a member of Greater Zion Holy Temple United Holy Church, Inc. under the leadership of Pastor Joseph L. Barnes.

James enjoyed reading his Bible and he surely loved the Lord. He delighted in singing old gospel songs from his youth and adulthood. He loved to watch any type of sports and oh how he loved to create his own dinner recipes.

He was preceded in death by his mother Isabel Denmark.

James leaves to cherish: his great-nephew Terry L. McLean, Jr. and niece, Brenda F. McLean who were his caregivers. Also, a host of relatives, colleagues, classmates, and the Greater Zion Holy Temple church family.
