The Obituary
Jacqueline Denise Marsh, known affectionately as Jackie, was born on September 24, 1963, to the late Cleatis and Sarah Mae Marsh. She passed away on September 22, 2024, at her residence.
Jackie was a vibrant and original individual, known to many as "Ms. JDM"; and a "Five-star Diva".
Growing up in Mitchell Chapel A.M.E. Zion church, Jackie was actively involved in various church activities from a young age. She served as an usher, youth choir member, Sunday school teacher, and member of the Voices of Praise. Her love for children and mentoring youth was evident in her leadership of a summer youth camp and organizing a trip for them to visit North Carolina Central
University.
Jackie's warm personality and love for her family and friends were evident in her generous and caring nature. She had a passion for travel, both domestically and internationally, and her infectious smile made her unforgettable to all who met her.
Jackie was actively employed at the United States Postal Service where she worked in management and served as a delegate to the National Convention of the American Postal Workers Union. Her past employers include UNC Hospitals and Carol Woods Retirement Community. Throughout her career she was known for her dedication and efficiency in every role she held, leaving a lasting impact wherever she went. She was a fan of UNC-CH, NCCU, but cheered loudest for the Dallas Cowboys!
Jackie was a distinguished graduate of Northwood High School in 1981. She also graduated with honors at Central Carolina Community College and North Carolina Central University. Jackie was
renowned for her exceptional skills as a left-handed softball pitcher during her high school years and in community league softball.
She is now reunited with her parents, Cleatis and Sarah Mae; one brother, James Harvey; and one sister, Patsy Elizabeth at the pearly gates.
Jackie is survived by a loving family who cherished her dearly. Her siblings include Brother Peacemaker (Durham, NC), Brenda Marsh Headen (Pittsboro, NC), Joyce Marsh (Austell, GA), Grady McKinney (Pittsboro, NC), and George Scurlock (Siler City, NC). She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins. There are countless children she adopted and loved as her own, however; the love she had for her godson, Jalynn Davis, was the love of a nurturing mother.
In her passing, Jackie leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and dedication that will be cherished by all who knew her.
