Herman Lewis Donaldson Sr., age 73 of 1439 Minter School Rd., Sanford, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Herman was born on November 4,1947 in Sanford, NC to the late parents' Herbert Donaldson and Genova Judd Donaldson. He was the third born out of eight children. He obtained his early childhood to high school education in Sandford, NC where he grew up. Herman was a hard worker. He worked as a school bus driver while in high school and once graduated, moved to Brooklyn, New York. He started working at Sterling Bowling Lanes in Long Island, New York where he found his interest in bowling and became a Lead Bowler. He eventually moved on to Strober Brothers in 1969 and became a Warehouse Foreman for over 30+ years until he retired in May 2010. Once retired, he returned home to Sanford, NC.
Herman enjoyed going to work, weight lifting, horse betting, fast cars and racing, boxing, watching movies, playing lotto, spending time with family and friends through gatherings, and bowling.
Herman leaves to mourn: five children, Herman Lewis Donaldson Jr., Sanford, NC; Rayshawn Donaldson, Sanford, NC; Monique Farrow, Brooklyn, NY; Shamieka Farrow, Brooklyn, NY; and Teana Donaldson, Aiken, SC; fifteen grandchildren, Keosha M. Reid, Lewis J. Reid, Ayana Donaldson, Latisha Donaldson, Maurice D. McLean Donaldson, Hashim O. Smith, Devon M. Dorsett Sr., Rayshawn A. Donaldson, Rahshawna E. Donaldson, Naudia D. Mitchell, Daquann A. Farrow, Donte K. Farrow, Dana`sia V. F. Farrow, Talea T. Hazzard, Nala C. Jones; nine great grandchildren, Dai`sean J. Steadman, Jourdin Z. Bland, Sincere Reid, Santana Reid, Serenity Reid, March`e McLean Donaldson, Zendaya McLean Donaldson, Lexington and Devon Dorsett Jr.; seven siblings, Vera L. Donaldson-Shedrick, James Donaldson, Lettie R. Donaldson-Hoggard, Eugene P. Donaldson, Darrell Donaldson, Maryland Brown, and Akua N. Donaldson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends; adopted family, and so many more.
