Mr. Henry Lee Brown, age 75, of Sanford, NC transitioned to eternal rest on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at his residence.

The Obituary

Henry Lee Brown was born to the late Henry and Mary Gill Brown on September 9, 1949, in Lee County, NC. He entered eternal rest on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at his residence.

Henry attended Lee County Schools. He entered the workforce at a young age, employed at Hallman Foundry, Carnation Mill Company, and Cherokee Brick as a supervisor.

He was a member at Marsh Memorial A.M.E. Zion church in Sanford, NC until his health declined and he was unable to attend. While active, he was a member of the Finance Committee and kept the upkeep on the church.

Henry loved working in the yard, remodeling old cars, and helping the elderly.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Gill Brown; one son, Henry Sernard Brown; one daughter, Covonda Chalmers Cole; and two great grandchildren, Taliah Woods and Elijiah Woods of Sanford, NC.

He leaves to cherish sweet memories his wife of forty-seven years, Reverend Laura Brown; daughters, Kenya Brown, Margaret (Wade) Clemons, Jacqueline Chalmers, Denada (Charlie Jr.) Gilchrist, and Angie Chalmers; a special sister, Paulette Brown Davis; and a special friend, Dontez Percell.

He will be dearly missed by his siblings, Alice Brown, Paulette (Jerry) Davis, James (Julia) Brown, Jack Brown, Phyllis Brown, Anthony Brown, Rachel Brown, Charles Brown, Roger (Marie) Brown, April (Anthony) McNeill of Eastover, NC, Marilyn Vanessa Swann, and Charles Woodard, all of Sanford, NC, and Arthur (Donna) Swann, Sr. of Fuquay Varina, NC; grandchildren, Key’saun Martin, Tiyon Turner, Aston Martin, Ny’sya Percell, DJoran Brown, Zymir Turner, Rondel Cole, Lauryn Cole, Alotia Cole, Chase Cole, Kailas Cole, Joshua Cole, Anthony Chalmers, Markees (Jessica) McBride, Keisha Chalmers, Tiera (Rob) Thomas, Shamekia Chalmers, Davon Mitchell, Thomas Mitchell, Janecka (Denisha) Moncrease, Teresa Clark, Angela Chalmers, Jasmine Clark, and Junior Clark; forty-eight great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren; one aunt, Annie Brown; four brothers-in-law, Jerald Richardson of Lillington, NC, Ernest Richardson of Broadway, NC, Donald Richardson of Silver Springs, MD, and Frank Junior (Wanda) Richardson of Petersburg, VA; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Richardson of Sanford, NC and Brenda (Lee Harold) Pearson of Cameron, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
