Mrs. Hazelene Dearman, age 63 of Sanford, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 13. 2021 at Central Carolina Hospital.
Mrs. Hazelene Patterson Dearman was born April 19, 1957 to the late Helen Patterson Lee and Minister John A. Blue. She was raised by her aunt the late Pastor Clara D. Swann and Emmanuel Swann. Hazelene graduated from Benhaven High School in 1975. Hazel participated in her high school marching band for four years. She married James A. Dearman in 1975.
“Hazel” as she was affectionately called was a quiet and very peaceful person. She always carried a beautiful smile. She loved the Lord and her family; her world was her son and her grandson. She was a longtime member of Moore Union FWB Church. Later joined New Church of Deliverance under the leadership of Apostle William and Pastor Barbara Powell. Hazel held several positions in the church: Church Secretary, Sunday School Secretary, Church Anniversary Committee, Head of the Usher Board, and a Faithful Armor Bearer to Pastor Barbara Powell.
Hazel attended Central Carolina Community College and received three degrees: She later rejoined Moore Union FWB Church under the leadership of Elder Donald Altman.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Patterson Lee; step father, Marlin Wayne Lee; brother, Thomas Levern Lee; nephew, Marvin Jerome Lee; niece, Marie McKoy and a host of aunts and uncles.
She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Jermain Artis McDougald; one grandson, Julian Jamire McDougald; father, Minister John A. Blue and Mother Geraldine M. Blue (stepmother); her siblings, Diana McLaughlin (Alvin), Minister Twanna Ferguson, Marvin D. Lee (Evangelist Deborah), Morris B. Lee (Desser), all of Sanford, NC, Joyce Pearson of Sanford, NC, Charles Washington of Salisbury, NC, Allene M. Hodges (Rodney) of Waynesville, MO, Evangelist Christopher Washington (Leslie) of Plainfield, NJ, Bishop Warren Anderson (Shelia) of Sanford, NC, Robin Percell (Frank) of Pinehurst, NC, Daphine Bullock of Sanford, NC, Shelia McNeill of Broadway, NC, Patrick Blue of Sanford, NC, Evangelist Annette McKoy (Milton) of Sanford, NC, Prophetess Melissa Blue of Sanford, NC, and Nicole Ortega of Sanford, NC; one uncle, Jessie L. Patterson; three aunts, Lula M. Blue of Sanford, NC Rutha Ray Broadway, NC and Georgia Carter Augusta, Ga. and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
