Mr. Glenn David McLean, age 74, of Laurinburg NC, transitioned into eternal rest on Friday, June 4, 2021, at his residence.
Glenn David McLean was born on January 30, 1947, to the late James and Dorothy McLean in Lee County, North Carolina. He departed this life after an extended illness on June 4, 2021, at the age of 74. He was the oldest son of 6 children, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters. Glenn joined Star Hope Baptist Church at an early age and after returning to NC in 2017, he continued to worship at his home church until his health began to fail. He graduated from W.B. Wicker High School in 1965. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC in 1969.
Glenn married the love of his life, the late Mary Elizabeth Smith. There are three children of this union. Glenn loved his children and parents. He enjoyed talking about them and his life in Brooklyn, New York. He served in the United States Army as a Medical Corpsman. After leaving the Army, Glenn embarked on a career with the Deutsche Bank of New York and later became an entrepreneur.
Glenn lived in Brooklyn, NY for approximately 48 years. Because of his failing health, he relocated to NC in 2017 to be near his family and friends. Glenn will always be remembered as a person with a humorous personality, a great smile, and a wonderful friend to others.
He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Shernita Lashaun McLean of Ahoskie, NC; Shoniece Mitchell (Kelvin) of Bowie, Maryland; one son, Damian Jamel McLean (Sharee), of Kuwait; six grandchildren, Tyree Marrow, Tyrell Marrow, Keinan Mitchell, Kenton Mitchell, Joshua McLean, and Logan McLean and a great-granddaughter, Quinn Marrow. Glenn was a part of a loving, close-knit family: three sisters, Mary M. Morrison (Archie) of Southern Pines, NC; Carolyn M. Fox (Wilford) of Garner, NC; and Jacqueline McMillian of Sanford, NC; two brothers, James Marshall McLean of Fayetteville, NC; and Ellis McLean (Andrea) of Laurinburg, NC; one sister-in-law, Linda Smith of Sanford, NC; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Smith, and Bennie Smith, both of Sanford, NC and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
