Gladys Edith (Talley) Pegues

Gladys Edith Pegues, age 89 of 506 S. Third. Street, Sanford, NC passed on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at her residence.

Mrs. Gladys Talley Pegues daughter of the late Robert and Ida Locklear Talley was born April 14th, 1930 in Cheraw, South Carolina. Gladys exchanged this life on earth for one of eternal rest and peace early Tuesday morning on May 21st, 2019. Gladys departed this world surrounded by her loving and devoted family at home.

Gladys attended the public school system of Chesterfield County, South Carolina and continued her education when she relocated to Sanford, North Carolina. As a young woman she worked in the areas of domestic and industrial settings. Gladys was united in holy matrimony to Daniel Pegues. Daniel preceded her in death in April 1984, and a brother Robert Talley in 2016. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Mrs. Gladys Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers she loved so well, and her influence will forever exist in the lives of those who knew her.

Gladys’s beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of  her children: Otis McKay of Hermitage, PA, Clara Mclean of Sanford, NC, Tommie Pegues (Vanessa) of Hermitage, PA, Sterling Funderburk of Hermitage, PA, Glenda Cole of Sanford, NC, Danny Pegues (Mary) of Cameron, NC, and Leenora (Tina) Yarborough of Sanford, NC. A special recognition to her two grandsons which she helped raise, Chemelle Pegues and Rahmeal Yarborough of the home. A sister and brother Cynthia Ford and Ronald Tally of Cheraw SC. Gladys also leaves to cherish her life and memory a host of devoted and loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
