Gladys Faye McDougald, age 79 of Sanford, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Monday, September 27, 2021 at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill.
One of these days I’m going home to get my just reward, If I work hard I know I’ll get my pay, look at’em standing with his arms wide open waiting to welcome me, no more pain now I’m RESTING EASY over on the other shore.
Gladys Faye McDougald has done just that, she has received her reward for being a good and faithful servant.
Gladys, known to many as “Faye”, was born to Pearl Bethea on May 15, 1942, in Harnett County. On September 27, 2021, at 3:30 PM a call was made from the heavenly choir that the best soprano Paradise AME Zion Church ever had was needed and in true fashion Faye answered the call.
Faye wore many hats from Sunday School Teacher to Pastor’s Aide and everything to be a blessing in building God’s Kingdom. But to her family she was so much more…sister, friend, mother to the motherless, auntie, babysitter and the first UNPAID Uber Driver. She was also a baker……..Who could forget the GINGERBREAD?!!!!!!!. An avid reader and fisherwoman, but her greatest love was her gift as a Master Chef.
Faye received her education in the Harnett County school system and continued her education at CCCC. While working many years in the manufacturing industry and retail, long lasting friendships were made, they became family to her, and many called her Auntie Faye.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Pearl Bethea, Father Albert Moore and brother Terry "Ted" McDougald, sisters Martha Jane Bethea and Lillian (Bea) Clay.
The legacy she left behind will not be forgotten as it lives on in her five sisters: Gracie Palmer of Sanford, NC, Ronnie Rollins of Sacramento, CA, Ella Lee of Sanford, NC, Kimetha “Kim” Moore Watson (Gregory) Spring Lake, NC, Wilma “Jeannie” Mitchell (Greg) Grand Prairie TX; three brothers: Michael Moore (Deborah) Spring Lake NC, Willie McNeill (Bobbie Jean) Norrington NC and Charles “Greg” Bethea (Melba) Phoenix AZ; and host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends at the home of her sister Ella Lee at 2701 Lanlier Drive, Sanford, NC after 12Noon daily.
