Geraldine DeGraffenreidt, age 76 of 195 Daisy Scurlock Rd., Moncure, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Laurels of Chatham, Pittsboro, NC.
Geraldine DeGraffenreidt the daughter of the late William Piggie and Katie Richardson, born September 18, 1943 in Chatham County, North Carolina. She peacefully slipped into the arms of her Heavenly Father May 14, 2020.
At an early age Geraldine became very noted in her church Mt, Sinai. As a young girl she worked in the Daycare there and then later in the School System. She served under Rev. Ford and worked on the Pastor's Aide. Committee Geraldine branched out and became a pillar in Chatham County where she helped many people in this time. She received many rewards but her love for God was her greatest. She graduated from Horton High School in the class of 1962, she loved her class and was the founder of Black History in Chatham County, NC.
She had many achievements being a mother, step mother and a Foster Ma most but not less of a grandmother, great-grand mother, sister, aunt and friend.
Many was touched by her love and acts of kindness wherever she went She would give a ride, food bags and a word of encouragement on any given day, until her health declined. But still she would try to help.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents and step father James Richardson, daughter, Angelina Smith; five siblings: Maria, Henry, Ethel, John and Sylvia.
She lives to cherish her memories TeAnna and Jalen Smith and grandchildren;three great grands: Alyanna, Isaiah and Itay Smith; three sisters, Elizabeth, Phyllis, Carolyn and a very special God son, Mario Burgess and his family and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives and friends whom she loved dearly. Also, her church family and special friends, Jean and Shirley the love of her life.
