Geraldine Carter

Ms. Geraldine Carter, age 80 of Sanford, NC, transitioned to eternal rest on Friday, June 7, 2024.

Geraldine Carter was born in Newark New Jersey on January 9, 1944, to the late Ural Carter and Elvenia Portee-Carter. She fell asleep in death on June 7,2024, surrounded by her loving children.

Geraldine raised six beautiful children, Michelita Alicea Danzey, Rozana Phillips, Felicia Hubbard, Leticia Carter-Edmond, Diana Carter Williams and Reynaldo Carter.

Geraldine was educated in Newark NJ public school system and graduated in Corona, New York.

Geraldine worked at Saint Barnabas Hospital as a CNA and as a private CNA for many many years.

Geraldine was aided into the truth by her late Aunt (Lois Johnson) and then continued her studies with the late Sister Spears. She later got baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness in 1985 and enjoyed informal witnessing to everyone whom she crossed paths with. She later moved to North Carolina in 2004.

Geraldine enjoyed spending time with family and friends, Elaine Portee, Antoine Conroy, the late Jonny Portee, Sandra Green whom she loved as a sister, Shirly Lambert, Cynthia Patterson, Carol Arrington, Edith Barnes, Jerry Kates, Joyce Baptiste, Wilbens Baptiste, Dyann Thomas, and the late Marilyn Purkett, and Sandra Basile.

Geraldine Carter was the matriarch of her family. She loved spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved watching her Korean dramas and watching JW Broadcast, with Daniel being her favorite bible drama. She also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and listening to hours of music. Going to movies, shopping and eating out were amongst the things she loved to do.

Geralidine was loving, funny and would help anyone in need. She was a spiritual person and loved all her nieces and nephews and gave a witness about Jehovah to all of them. She also helped raise Kimberly, Shelly, and Melissa Grant.

Preceding her in death are her three sisters, Sandra Hancock, Yvonne Grant, and Dolores Flack; one brother in law, (Jack Flack); one extended son, Neftley Nazario; three grandchildren, Imani Oliver Green, Melody Michelita Hubbard, and Tristan Lee Hubbard; three sons-in-law, whom she adored, Gary Phillips, Bobby Danzey, Kenneth Lydell Hubbard.

Geraldine leaves to cherish her memory her children, Michelita Danzey, Rozana Phillips, Felicia Hubbard, Letica Carter Edmond (Allan Edmond), Diana Carter Williams (Lamont Williams), Reynaldo Carter (Telaya Carter), one brother in law, Mckinley Grant; nineteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
