Georgia H. Williams, age 86 of 2640 Applegate Way, Sanford, NC transitioned into eternal rest Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at her residence.
Mrs. Georgia Hubbard Williams the daughter of the late John E. Hubbard and the late Gretchen Shoffner Hubbard was born January 23, 1934, in Guilford County. She departed this life the early morning of Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at her home in Sanford, North Carolina.
Georgia was married to late Everett Williams for 52 years, and they were blessed with six loving children. She loved her family, friends, and those who called her “Ma.” She was full of joy and laughter even through pain. “Laughter is the best medicine with no side effects,” (Prov. 17-22a).
Georgia was educated in the Lee County School System, and W. B. Wicker High School. She attended Central Carolina Technical Institute and received certification as a Seamstress, and loved sewing challenges (making clothing, etc.). She was home maker, excellent cook. She was a sheet-metal worker and welder at Carnes Corporation in Sanford, North Carolina for more than 22 plus years. In her preretirement, she also worked in the deli and various departments in K-Mart Store, and Tyson Food in Sanford, North Carolina. Georgia had many talents in her earlier years and worked several jobs in Bridgeport Connecticut before returning with her family to North Carolina.
Georgia gave her life to Christ at an early age and served faithfully at Tempting Congregational Church under the leadership of Pastor J.C. Capps, and later served under the leadership of Pastor Percy Lee Hawes Sr., in Sanford, North Carolina. In her later years she joined Ebenezer Pentecostal Church in Sanford, NC., and served under the leadership of Pastor Glenn Williams for more than ten years. And then returned to Tempting Congregational Church to continue her Christian journey. Georgia later moved to Carthage, North Carolina and continued her Christian walk at Saint John’s Church of God, and served under the leadership of Pastor Nathan Hooker, until her illness. She then relocated back to Sanford, North Carolina. Even though her health began to decline she continued to maintain her faith until God called her home.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers - Frank and John Azell Hubbard, her husband – Everett Williams; sisters – Ila Mae Hubbard Hawes, Mary Ruth Hubbard Williams; brother – James Henry Hubbard; sister – Wyomia Hubbard Totten; and great-grandson, Thomas Sterling Davis
