Mr. George Wendel Harris, Jr., age 59, of Spring Lake, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Friday, March 31, 2023, at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, NC.

The Obituary 

George Wendell Harris, Sr., affectionately known as "Georgie" departed to his heavenly home on March 31, 2023. He was born on August 22, 1963, to George Harris and Leila Robinson in New York, NY. At a young age, Georgie was adopted and raised by his paternal grandparents, Essie Mae Bowser and Daniel Webster Bowser. He attended Charles Evans HS. He joined the armed forces in June 1984 and was discharged later that year.

Georgie had a passion for cooking and worked as a shift leader at McDonald's, cook at Central Carolina Hospital, and Chic Fil A. He was well known for his plate dinner sales, mouth-watering honeybun cakes and other desserts.

In 2015, he joined Kingdom Builders where he was a member until he departed to his heavenly home.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Harris, grandparents, Essie Mae and Daniel Bowser, aunts, Louise White, Phyllis Bowser-Nelson, Jacqueline Bowser, uncles, Bennie Bowser and Daniel Bowser, and brother, Kevin Williams, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memories three daughters, Chanel Foushee (Joshua), Jasmine Holmes, Dominique Holmes, two sons, Tyrell Holmes and Jamel Harris, children's mother, Lesa McLeod, two uncles, Eddie Bowser and Rodney Nelson, two sisters, Cynthia Cummings and Takia Harris, one brother, Deshawn "Shawn" Williams, 4 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6 pm-8 pm at 615 York Street, Sanford, NC 27330.
