Mr. George Edward Thomas, age 74 of Moncure, NC transitioned to eternal rest on Sunday, February 25, 2024.
OUR FAMILY Chain is broken, and nothing seems the same;
But as God calls us one by one the Chain will link again.
George Edward Thomas (Tom), age 74 was born October 3, 1949, in Chatham County, NC, to the late George Wesley, Jr., and Susie Bell Thomas. On Sunday, February 25, 2024 Tom departed from this earthly home and took flight to his eternal home.
Tom graduated from Horton High School in Pittsboro, North Carolina in 1967. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He grew up in Mt. View AME Zion Church.
Upon retiring from the US Army, Tom adventure out and moved to Maryland where he was employed by The DC Metropolitan Police Dept. for 25 years. While in Maryland he enjoyed deep sea fishing earning him the name “Captain Tom”. He also enjoyed traveling to various states.
After retiring from the Police Department and D.C. area, he moved back home to North Carolina. He enjoyed doing flea marketing in the Raleigh area and meeting people while doing so. Captain Tom also enjoyed cooking for his family & friends and family reunions was a plus for him.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, George Wesley Thomas, Jr., and Susie Bell Thomas.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories six siblings: Jerome Thomas (Sandra) of Moncure, NC, Elder Debbie Lee (Benjamin) of Pittsboro, NC, Herbert Thomas of Apex, NC, Althea Thompson (Darryl), of Sanford, NC, Apostle Tony Thomas of Durham, NC, Rev. Darlene Peoples (Leevern) of Upper Marlboro, MD, adopted brother Steve Thomas (Brenda) of Moncure, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
