Fred Bennett Murchison, Sr.

Mr. Fred Bennett Murchison, Sr., age 103 of 310 Commerce Drive, Sanford, NC passed Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Lee County. 

Fred B. Murchison, Sr. was born in Durham, NC to the late Marie S. Terrell. 

He was a lifelong member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member of the Mission Choir and taught the Adult Men's Sunday School Class until his health declined.  He was also a member of the Silvertone Gospel Singers of Sanford, NC.

He served in the United States Army during World War II and retired from the city of Sanford. 

Fred was married to the late Alise Johnson Murchison and was also preceded in death by his son, Ronald A. Murchison.

Left to cherish his memories are: his son, Fred B. Murchison, Jr. (Margaret) Sanford, NC; his daughter, Vanessa Y. Murchison, Sanford, NC; grandchildren, Fred. B. Murchison, III (Audrey) Sanford, NC; Amanda Ervin (Charles) Dumfries, VA; Tiffany Walker, Baltimore, MD; great-grandchildren, Charles P. Ervin, IV, Kendra I. Ervin, Keyshawn Walker and Jalen Walker; great-great granddaughter, Amiya Ervin and many other relatives and friends.

The family will not be receiving visitors at their home due to the coronavirus. The service will be a private service and not open to the public due to the coronavirus however, it will be live streamed.
