Fred Elmer Appleby

Mr. Fred Elmer Appleby, age 65 of Sanford transitioned into eternal rest on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Sanford Health and Rehab in Sanford, NC.

Fred Elmer Appleby was born on January 31, 1957, in Chatham County, North Carolina to Virginia Davis and Robert Appleby. He transitioned from this life on April 25, 2022, at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation located in Sanford, NC.

Fred was educated in the Chatham County School Systems, where he attended Moncure Elementary School and Northwood High School. He spent many years employed by Sunbelt Inc.

At an early age, Fred joined Rose Hill AME Zion Church in Moncure, NC. He later joined Jehovah United Methodist Church in Pineville, SC where he was a dedicated member of the Jehovah Male Chorus.

Fred loved music, dancing, singing, and shooting pool. He was also a huge fan of the Washington Redskins football team!

Fred was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vernetta Linen Appleby, and his parents, Levi, and Virginia Taylor.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, six daughters – Laura Ann White and Constance Smith (Alonzo), of Moncure, NC- Calanda Linen, Shirinda Mouzon, and Ija Linen of Georgetown, SC, Shiminda (Kelvin) Chestnut of Roebuck, SC; two sons – Fredrick Appleby of Moncure, NC and Rev. Solomon McAuley of Concord, NC; ten granddaughters – Shawntoria Sanders (Robert) of Tennessee, Jamie White and Lydia Smith of Moncure, NC, Elease Harris of Concord, NC, Jewel Richardson of West Springfield Massachusetts, Uriah McAuley of Muskegon Michigan, Ne’kymebra, Netyra, Iyanni, Naima; six grandsons – Kendrick Colvin and Isaiah Mayes, of Moncure, NC, Jay’son, TeiJah, Kaidyn, and Khalil; three great-grandchildren – Kash Daniels, Na’kiya and Nazari; two special cousins – Margaret Heck and Darlene D. Taylor; and a host of other relatives and friends.
