Obituary
Mr. Francis J. Baldwin the son of the late Lux Stone and Pauline Baldwin was born on January 25, 1931, in Chatham County N.C. and received his Heavenly wings on May 10, 2026.
Francis was the oldest of six children, and grew up in Pittsboro N.C. On June 26, 1951, at the age of 20 years old Francis was drafted into the United States Army. While serving for his country that same year on November 26, 1951, Francis became a father to his first-born child a son Calvin Thomas Currie.
On May 15, 1953, Francis was discharged from the military. returned home to North Carolina. and married Alma Siler. Francis later relocated to New York and met Bertha Mae Smith, and of this union came three children (Valerie, Tina and Bobby). The family attended Ebenezer Baptist Church in Babylon, N.Y. where Francis served as a Trustee, an Usher and a Deacon for over 40 years. Even at the age of 95, every Sunday morning you could see Francis pulling up to church and parallel parking his car in front of the church better than anyone of the street. He would make his way into worship service to serve his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Francis had a passion for cars, and he could hold a conversation for days about them. He worked as a detailer for many years at various businesses before he retired from Babylon Chrysler. However, even during retirement Francis would still give your vehicle that showroom appearance. If he was not putting his special touch on a vehicle, you could catch him working at the Babylon Meat Market. At the age of 90 yrs old he was still a dedicated worker at the market.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Calvin T. Currie; one grandson, Kevin Tyheem Baldwin; one brother, Willie Lee Baldwin (Bertha); his long-time and devoted companion, Carrie J. Mobley; three nephews, Randy Marsh, Barry Baldwin, and Shannon Alston; two brothers-in-law, Clinton Alston and Clyde Reid Marsh; one sister-in-law, Ruby L. Baldwin; and three friends, Mr. Reid, Mike, and George.
