Everett Gordon Dorsett

Mr. Everett Gordon Dorsett, age 92, of Lillington, NC, transitioned to eternal rest on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC. 

The Obituary

Everett “Sonny Boy” Dorsett was born Feb 4,1933 to Everett Gordon and Nettie Dorsett Harrington. He attended New Hope School. After school he joined the military, he worked in logging, Walmart and Avondale until he retired. He loved sports, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lida Chesney Dorsett; daughters, Phyllis Dorsett, Vickie Gainey, Peggy Murchison, Barbara “Sas” Covington; sons, Everett “Ebb” Dorsett and Michael Dorsett; five grandchildren, Derrick Spruill, Michael “Buzz” Dorsett, Timothy Dorsett, Adrian “Shawn” Dorsett, Tanisha “Betsy” Murchison and son-in-law, Ronald Neal.

He is survived by three children, Gwendolyn “Faye” Dorsett, Marcia Neal, and David Dorsett (Darlene) and two grandchildren whom he raised Janel Dorsett and Thomas “TJ” Dorsett; a great grandchild Rayshawn “Mik” Donaldson Jr.; two brothers-in-law James “JC” Rader, and Lacy George Chesney (Jackie); two sisters-in-law, Viola Barrett and Geraldine Jones; one son-in-law, Larry “Grit” Covington; a niece who was raised as his sister Peggy Dorsett, he had eleven grandchildren, sixty three great grandchildren and sixty four great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
