Ervin Wayne Jones

Mr. Ervin Wayne Jones, age 54 of Garner, North, Carolina transitioned into eternal rest Friday, January 14, 2022, at his residence.

On Friday, January 14, 2022, our beloved Ervin Wayne Jones passed away peacefully in Garner, NC; surrounded by those he loved. Ervin is fondly remembered as a loving son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Born November 29, 1967, and raised in Chapel Hill, NC; Ervin was the youngest son born to Mattie Jones and the late John Raymond Jones, II. He attended Chapel Hill High School, and at a young age joined St. Joseph C.M.E Church in Chapel Hill, NC.

Ervin was also a graduate of Sanford-Lee School of Barbering. His passion for barbering paved the way into a profession where he started his own business and spent many years serving. He had many faithful customers.

One of Ervin’s favorite pastimes was watching the UNC Tar Heels and Dallas Cowboys, and traveling with his sweetheart, Melissa. He also loved fishing, shopping, and collecting hats. To know Ervin, was to know that he was a very “fashionable” man.

Ervin is preceded in death by his father, John Raymond Jones, II, his maternal grandparents: George and Effie Hairston, and his paternal grandparents: Theodore and Jimmie Lee Bynum, and John Raymond Jones.

His memory will forever be cherished by children: Zion Jones, Ja’Mychel Hairston-Jones, and Achazia Taylor, his mother: Mattie Jones, siblings: Angie J. Smith and John Raymond Jones, III (Holly),  his significant other: Melissa Barrett, and her children: Jamal Barrett and Joshalyn Barrett, grandchildren: Jordyn Raynor and Journee Raynor, nieces: Victoria Smith and Olivia Jones, nephews: Regi Smith and John Raymond Jones, IV, two godchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, and friends.
