Obituary
On July 18, 2025, God called His faithful servant, Emma Turner, home.
Emma was born and raised in Chatham County before moving up North to begin her career. She worked at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for several years before returning to Chatham County to be closer to family. Upon her return, she was employed at Kayser-Roth and later at UNC Chapel Hill, where she worked until her retirement.
Emma was deeply involved in her church, Saint Luke UCC, and her community. She was a dedicated member of both the Joyettes Choir and the WXKL Choir for many years.
In her leisure time, Emma enjoyed yard sales, watching In the Heat of the Night and Jimmy Swaggart, solving crossword puzzles, and playing Solitaire.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Galileo Turner; her mother, Bettie Womble; her father, Benjamin Womble; and her brothers, Robert Brooks and Albert Brooks.
Left to cherish her memory are her stepdaughter, Tannie Martin; her granddaughter, Bianca Bell; her nieces, Pansy (Reggie) Featherstone, Isla (Tony) Swann, and Elizabeth Marsh; her nephew, Andre Marsh; her aunts, Maude Alston and Willie Mae Tysor; and her sisters-in-law, Janice Bentley and Lisa Turner.
Also left to cherish her memories were an abundance of nieces, nephews and loved ones.
