The Obituary

Emmanuel Cheko Martin, son of the late, Viola Martin and Benny Petty, was born July 25, 1967, in Sanford, NC. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lavern Woodard (Jojo) and his sister, Shelia Woodard. He was called to his Heavenly home on April 26, 2025. Emmanuel Cheko Martin affectionately known as (green eyes, cat eyes, Cletus, Cheko the Man, Ernest T. Bass, Aloysius, and some that can’t be mentioned (LOL). 

Cheko was a hardworking man who put his all in everything he did. He loved his job at the Wilkinson Cadillac, which he worked at for the past thirteen years. He was like a magnet; the closer you got to him, the more you’re attracted to him. He loved to cook and was always putting something on the grill or on the stove. He was an amazing cook and loved to cook potatoes and onions. He was never a fisherman, but he loved relaxing at his uncle’s pond. His real passion was detailing cars and spending time with his family, friends, and work family. 

He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Unique Yarborough (Deric) and two sons: Emanual Cheko Martin Jr. and Brandon Blue; three grandchildren, Ethan, Jay'ce, and Alaina; one sister, Maria (Roger); three special cousins who were raised as brothers and sisters, Vernon Bobo (Darlene), Willimenia, and Michelle; two aunts, Alberta Williams and Diane Martin; one uncle Dennis (Sharon), all of Sanford, N.C., and a host of family and friends, the Bad Boys Club, and his Wilkinson Cadillac family.
