Elwood Alonza Mitchell

Mr. Elwood Alonza Mitchell was born October 12, 1956, to Florence and Lloyd Mitchell of Cambridge, Maryland.  Elwood was one of seven children.  He was named after his favorite uncle Elwood Mitchell.  He departed this life on May 26, 2022. 

He was educated in the Dorchester County school system in Cambridge, MD. Later in life, he moved to Sanford, NC. 

He had one very special friend whom he talked to on a regular basis, Walter Lee Lewis; and his crew, Mark Pinder, Cedric Cornish and Kim Lee all of Cambridge, Maryland.

He was a beloved hardworking employee working 12+ years at Quality Home Health Care and 4 years at Walmart. He was also a devoted Christian and an active member at New Life Fellowship Church in Sanford NC.  He participated in numerous church activities and played bass with the Praise Team.  He had an uplifting charismatic personality that brightened everyone's spirit. 

Both parents preceded him in death, as well as two sisters, Lynell Mitchell and Francine Mitchell. 

He leaves to mourn his passing three sons, Montae Marine, Cambridge MD; Khad’drick Mitchell and Khristopher Mitchell, Sanford NC; three brothers, Edward Opher (Dorothy), Wilmington, DE, Lloyd Mitchell Jr. (Doris), Vernon, AL, Ronald Mitchell (Tonya), Cambridge, MD and one sister Clarice Davis (Alonzo), Cambridge, MD; two aunts Mardela Opher and Margaret Jackson, Cambridge, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
