Mr. Elmer Kent Alston departed this life on October 13, 2021, at the VA Medical Center in Durham, NC.
Elmer was born April 9, 1938, to the late John Henry and Annie Jane Alston. Elmer served his country proudly in the US Army. He was known for his skills on the baseball field along with his expertise and love for fishing. He was kind, caring, and generous except when it came to sharing the location of his favorite fishing spots. Elmer didn’t meet any strangers, he was well known by many, and had the gift of “gab” which he often put into use on the card table playing spades, pinochle, and biz whist. Elmer had a long career over the years as a Truck Driver in the Poultry industry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Treser Jackson and Welbun Alston; son Kurk Womble; grandsons Demetrius Alston and Brandon Womble; most recently longtime partner Elaine Knight of Siler City.
He is survived by his son, Kenny Alston (Novella); daughter, Nicole Wilson; special son, Christopher Knight; grandson, Omari Alston; 5 sisters, Geri Feaster of Marlboro, MD, Doris Oden of Norwalk, CT, Alberta Dark of Hartford, CT, Kaye Booker of Decatur, GA; Marvie McCrimmon of Haw River, NC; brother Tyree Alston of Bennett, NC, and a host of nieces and nephews.
