Elbert Collins McDougald

Mr. Elbert Collins McDougald, age 84 of Sanford NC transitioned into eternal rest on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington, NC.

Mr. Elbert Collins McDougald was born on May 19, 1938, in Cumberland County, North Carolina. He was one of thirty-two children born to Preston James and Isabelle Walker McDougald, both of who preceded him in death. Elbert grew up in the Johnsonville Community and was educated in the Harnett County School System.

Elbert was an avid Nascar Racing fan. He worked for many years at Coty, Inc. and also retired from there. A member of Johnsonville AME Zion Church, Elbert was an active member of the Johnsonville Male Chorus for many years.

Elbert was also preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Lucille McDougald, daughter, Bonnie Jean McDougald, several brothers and sisters, and a great-grandchild.

Elbert leaves to cherish his memory: Children: Teresa McDougald French, Linda (William) Beck, Ronnie D. McDougald, and Elbert C. McDougald, Jr., all of Sanford, N.C., Angela Warren of Fayetteville, N.C., Jennifer (Bruce) Lee of Broadway, N.C., Veronica McDougald of Cameron, N.C., Charles L. Hope of Lemon Springs, N.C., and Deceda (Anthony) Edwards of Charlotte, N.C., Sabrina (Terry) Wicker of Sanford N.C.; Floyd (Elsie) Lamar of Bessemer, Alabama; Debra L. Lee of Sanford N.C.; and Marcella (Gilbert) of Sanford, N.C.; four sisters: Mildred (Charlie) Goldston, Bernice Cole, Rosa McDougald, and Patricia (John) McRae; one brother, Floyd McDougald and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.
