Edward Lewis Davis, lovingly known as "Moby", age 77 of Sanford, North Carolina, peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Westfield Rehabilitation and Health Center, surrounded by his devoted family.
He was born on June 11, 1947, in Sanford, North Carolina, Edward was the cherished son of the late Mary Ann Davis and Vance Partridge. He attended Lee County Training School and upon completing his education, he focused on sharpening his carpentry skills, which he used to help remodel various homes throughout his city. On July 22,1972 Moby married the love of his life, Viola Johnson Davis, in Dillon, South Carolina. Their union was blessed with six children: Vernon Johnson, Doyle Johnson, Vance Davis, Allison Davis, Melissa Davis and Linda Davis. In addition, they lovingly raised Oscar Johnson, Orecko Johnson, Destiny Freeman, Jeremiah Freeman, and Joshua Freeman, creating a large family bound together by love.
Moby was a talented mechanic with a deep passion for automobiles. He often said "If it can't be fixed, it ain't worth driving"; which reflected his expertise and determination to get the vehicle up and running. His love for fixing vehicles led him to be known as one of the best "shade tree mechanics “around.
