The Obituary

Drucella Mae McLean, age 67 of Sanford, NC passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC.

Drucella was born on February 10, 1957 to the late Selma Mae McIver and Franklin Lee Swann, Sr.

She joined Chestnut AME Zion Church at an early age.

After Drucella graduated from Dunbar High School, she then began working as a nurse's aide for many years as well as at Federal Spinning.

Drucella spent her time caring for and loving her family. She loved to garden, she had said, “give me my flowers while I am living”. She loved to cook and bring her family together, to laugh, and make memories. She always said that her greatest joy in life was to see her family all together.

Drucella was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Swann; three grandsons, Antonio, Paul, and Jason Johnson; three brothers, Anthony Swann, Franklin Swann, Jr., and Richard Swann; and two sisters, Janice Swann and Shirley Swann.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Bonnetta Johnson, John Earl McLean (Tecosha), Selma McLean, Stephanie McLean, Jamil McLean, Cathy McLean, William Gilchrist, and Nascieria Morrison, all of Sanford, NC; sisters, Sharon Swann and Cathy Reid, both of Sanford, NC; a special friend, Mr. Henry Latta of Broadway, NC; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
