The Obituary
Mrs. Dorothy Mildred (McKoy) Davis was born on April 9, 1935, to the late Bishop Paul and Mother Elsie McKoy in Angier, North Carolina. She departed this life on June 18, 2024, at First Health Hospice and Palliative Care in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
She graduated from Johnsonville High School in Cameron, NC. She also received training at a beauty school in Durham, North Carolina.
“Dot” as she was affectionately known as by family and friends, was baptized in the name of Jesus and filled with the Holy Spirit at the Church of God in Christ Jesus in Angier, NC. She later joined St. Peter’s Bible Church of God (later Charter named: Pentecostal Assembly of Jesus Christ), where she served under the ministry and leadership of her brother, Bishop Roy A. McKoy as a member and sang in the choir. She remained with her church as the ministry grew, relocated, and built a new sanctuary. They operated under the assumed name of The Worship Center, in later years she was appointed and given the title as a CHURCH MOTHER, because of her nurturing love, godly wisdom, and unwavering faithfulness to God and His church. She was known as Mother Dorthy Davis.
Dot and Ellis Davis were married and to this union four children were born. After marriage they relocated to Jamaica Queens, New York before later returning to North Carolina.
She worked as a beautician, a food service worker in hospitals in NY and NC, and later retired from Moen Inc.
Mother Dorothy Davis was a caring, encouraging, loving, nurturing, and supportive individual. She always believed in giving all that she had to others to make their lives better if she could. Among her hobbies were “soul food” cooking, baking cakes that literally would melt in your mouth, studying/reading the Word of God, going to church, serving the Lord, and welcoming everyone into her home. Dot is and was a jewel to all that knew her and will truly forever be missed!
She was preceded in death by one son, LeVern Davis; and five siblings, Carl Lee McKoy, Genever Davis, Levi McKoy, Pauline Cameron, and Novella Chalmers.
