Mr. Donald Lee Jackson, age 74 of Sanford, NC transitioned to eternal rest on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.
The Obituary
Donald Lee Jackson, also known as “Jack”, son of the late James and Emma Marshall Jackson was born on July 12, 1949, in Lee County, NC.
He departed this life on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, peacefully at home.
Jack attended W.B. Wicker School. At an early age he began working to help in the home. He was employed at various jobs, Lee Brick of Sanford, Tyson Foods and later entered the Lee County School System. His occupation was custodial work and he later retired after fifteen years.
Don was a “Jack” of all trades, his favorite words were, “I can do it” whether he knew how or not. Don loved to cook, spend time with family and friends, and watching tv. Don was a hard worker that always provided for his family.
On December 17, 1994, he was joined in holy matrimony to the love of his life, April Jackson and they remained married for twenty-nine years.
Don was a member of Emmanuel Glorious Church of God under the leadership of Pastor Larry Murchison, where he served on the Deacon Board. Later he moved his membership to God’s Promise Church under the leadership of Pastor Shawn Williams.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, James and Emma Jackson; brother, James Jackson, Jr.; a twin brother, Ronnie Jackson; and two sisters, Verta Gill and Bonnie Jackson.
Don leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, April Jackson of the home; four children, Donald Lee, Caleb Jackson, Jeremy and Hannah Jackson all of Sanford; one special grandson, Kairo Onyx Jackson; three sisters, Burnette Sanders (E.J.), Margaret Jackson of Sanford, Jennie Jackson of New Rochelle, NY; one brother, Curtis Jackson of Sanford; one special cousin whom he called Aunt, Queen Esther Russell; four brothers in law, Tony Johnson, Ross Johnson, Derrick McIver, and Jimmy McKendall all of Sanford; six sisters in law, Francine Chaney (Joe) Memphis, TN, Melissa Landrum of Richmond, VA, Trina Quick, Angela Cotton, Sherry Williams, and Esther Johnson, all of Sanford; special childhood friends (like brothers), Waymon “Cubby” McLean, Tommie Pegues, and Sterling Funderburke; and a host of loving family, cousins, and friends.
