Dennis Ray Johnson Sr

Mr. Dennis Ray Johnson Sr, age 58 of Sanford, NC transitioned into eternal rest, Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford, NC. Dennis was born on July 21, 1962, in Rocky Mount, NC to Barbara Johnson and the late Ossie Battle Jr. Dennis was affectionately called 'Dr. DJ' and the "Mayor" of Stewart Manor; anything you wanted to know, he had the 411.

At 11 months old, Dennis and his mother left North Carolina and relocated to Brooklyn, NY. Dennis was educated in the New York City Public School System. In 1978, he relocated to Sanford, NC where he attended Lee County High School and graduated. Dennis returned to NYC and made a career in security for a few years. Then, in 2002, Dennis returned to Sanford, NC, and he remained in Sanford until his death. Dennis loved gospel music, old western movies, and reality shows.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Bennie Johnson and Annie Horne Johnson, four uncles; Bennie Johnson Jr., Nathaniel Johnson, Robert Lee Johnson, and Carlton D. Johnson, one aunt; Louise Johnson.

Dennis leaves to share his memories one son; Dennis Johnson Jr (Katrina), three grandchildren, twins Sevyn , Sy’Aire Johnson and Synia Johnson, a loving mother; Barbara Ann Johnson, loving sister; Zelda Kay Johnson, one nephew; Jerome Johnson (Christine), two nieces; Jerrica Johnson and Shanikua Brooks, three uncles; Richard Johnson (Hattie), known as “Mom” and “Pop”, James Johnson and Albert Johnson (Phyllis), and a host of loving relatives and friends.
